On the morning of March 17, at the Dong Da Mound relic site, in response to Youth Month 2024, Dong Da District Youth Union coordinated with the District Military Command, The Youth Union branch of the Inspection Committee of Hanoi City Party Committee, and the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union of Dong Da Power Company to launch a campaign of “First Green Sunday” in 2024.
Green Sunday has become a vibrant movement among the Capital’s youth union members. Each year, the movement attracts more and more union members and young people to participate, contributing to raising awareness and behavior in environmental protection, effectively implementing the youth movement to together preserve a green – clean – beautiful living environment.
Secretary of Dong Da District Youth Union Nguyen Thi Thanh Tam affirmed: “With the spirit of “Where there is a need for youth, there is a need for youth. Where there is difficulty, there is youth”, the Youth Union at all levels and young officers of the Youth Union in the whole district are always ready to take the lead on all fronts.
Promoting the role of Dong Da district youth in joining hands to protect the environment and respond to climate change, I believe that the “Green Sunday” campaign will continue to contribute to the successful implementation of the goal of building a civilized urban area in 2024 of Dong Da district”.
With the motto of making the environment increasingly green, clean and beautiful, Dong Da district youth have been proactive in activities such as: Environmental sanitation; collecting, processing and classifying plastic waste; watering trees to beautify the landscape; organizing cycling to propagate environmental protection on many streets, ect. Through the activities of “Green Sunday”, cadres, Youth Union members and youth of Dong Da district have deeply understood environmental protection activities, practically contributing to building a civilized urban area and protecting the green living environment.
Lieutenant Colonel Kieu Xuan Tuong – a Politician of Dong Da District Military Command affirmed the joint efforts of the district’s armed forces with the district’s departments and unions in building the all-people national defense posture of Dong Da district.
“Green Sunday focuses on implementing national defense and security criteria, contributing to building a national defense, a national defense posture, associated with a people’s security posture, building a solid defense area, contributing to building a civilized and modern Dong Da district”, said Lieutenant Colonel Kieu Xuan Tuong – the Politician of Dong Da District Military Command.
Therefore, it can be said that responding to the Green Sunday movement is truly one of the practical and useful activities that bring many meanings. In particular, it aims to raise people’s understanding of environmental protection issues, as well as the importance of environmental protection for human life on earth.
The Green Sunday movement has been promoting the pioneering role, volunteerism, and creativity of young people in participating in projects and tasks; creating vibrant and widespread activities among all classes of people in Dong Da district in particular and Hanoi city in general on environmental protection awareness; attracting the attention of all levels, sectors, organizations and communities.

The project “Youth Flower Garden” with a total of more than 400 newly planted flowers in the Dong Da Cultural Park campus is expected to contribute to building a green living environment and raising the sense of responsibility of each member in the district.
